Levy Funding Update

Fern Ridge Library District is 2 years into a 5-year local option levy that accounts for approximately 40% of our operating budget.  Here is a snapshot of the material and services made possible by the passage of Ballot Measure 20-149.

LOCAL OPTION LEVY 20-149: AN UPDATE
In 2008, voters gave a 56% approval to Ballot Measure 20-149, maintaining a levy rate of 25 cents for every $1000 of assessed property value.  With these funds, the Library continues to improve and expand service, providing the community with access to a variety of material, programming, and other resources.

CONTINUED AND NEW SERVICE: SINCE 2008...
10 of 12 public access computer stations have been updated with new hardware.  In addition, a new job search workstation provides patrons with 2-hour computer access.

387 programs for youth and teens have provided education, literacy training and fun with total attendance of 7220.

We have added several Digital Resources:
NoveList Plus- a reader's advisory database
       Auto Repair Reference Center
Overdrive- Over 20,000 E-books and 10,000 audio books                                available for download to your digital devices

FRL has added over 10,000 books, 675 audio/visual materials, and 1,100 videos.

WHAT THESE FUNDS DID NOT PAY FOR
Thanks to the activities of the Fern Ridge Library Foundation the renovations that opened up the Chatfield Room, expanded the teen and technology areas and updated our furnishings were completed using funds donated by the community and several Oregon private foundations.  No tax dollars were used to complete building renovations.  Other items in the Library, such as the flat screen TV in the teen area were purchased by the Friends of the Fern Ridge Library.
